Sanada "Gentazaemon no jô" Nobutsuna (1537-June 29, 1575) served well the Takeda clan. He was born in Matsuo Castle, the eldest son of Sanada Yukitaka (a castle lord of Shinano Province, who later pledged loyalty to the Takeda).
Upon the occasion of his coming-of-age ceremony,
he was granted the shin (信) character from Takeda Shingen's name, and so he took the name of Nobutsuna (信綱).
Nobutsuna's first campaign is believed to have been around the time of the Siege of Toishi. He went on to fight with distinction under the Takeda banner, and eventually became one of Takeda Shingen's famous Twenty-Four Generals. During the Battle of Nagashino within the year of 1575, Nobutsuna would lead over 200 horsemen.
Nobutsuna would end up being killed throughout the vastness of the battle along with his younger brother Masateru (hyôbu)
